This was one of the best meets for me despite not getting any sleep the night before while fighting a migraine and among other things.  It didn't feel like a true 'World' meet with it being held in the United States this year, not until I sat down for breakfast Friday morning and all the other countries where gathered there as well.  One the lifting started, it finally felt like the big show.

I finally felt that at home on the platform, nerves seem to have left me.  Maybe it was the SpongeBob Square Pants 'Pop-eyed' toy Larry brought along to give me laughs in the warm-up room.   I nailed my three squats with all white lights.  Took the first two down slow to make sure I made depth.  The third, a conservative 485 was the easiest lift.  Bench again flew, but was denied my third at 303 when I got a red light from the head judge for my hand slipping beyond the ring on the bar (also had a red light from one of the side judges for another call).  The press was easy and I won't let that happen again.  Deadlifts was a battle for second position between the Ukraine and myself.  She was at a lighter body weight, so I needed the bigger pull.  501 on the bar, but I didn't have a good grip of the bar when it broke the floor, I only managed to get it to my knees before I totally came out of form.

I did accomplish my goal and that was to get on the platform.  I medalled in all three lifts, taking home the bronze medal for total and missing silver by five pounds.  Out of 95 women competing, I placed 8th by formula.

It is always a blast to get back together with the rest of the US Team.  The banquet was great, lots of laughs, dancing and drinking late into the night.  I also FINALLY got my pizza (thanks to Greg Page) and my cheesecake thanks to Larry, the diet is OVER!

Special thanks to my brother Ivan for his awesome knee wraps and being my biggest supporter. He is always there for me when I need him.  And the biggest thanks to my coach, Larry Maile for all the time and effort you have put into my lifting and for believing in my potential!
