2006 USAPL Women's Nationals was hosted in Denver, Colorado. An excellent venue and run meet, although a sub-par performance for me this meet, I had a great time. Entering the meet, I had hopes of setting a few IPF World Records. Those hopes were crushed quickly with a denied 2nd attempt squat on depth, only to make a small, safe jump on my 3rd. Bench did not get any better either. I have had a series of meets with poor performance on the bench, we are now thinking this is due to a blocked nerve in my neck after squatting since strength is there, but unable to get my one arm to fire correctly. With big intentions going into the deads, it was met with a slippery carpet on the platform. I made my opener with ease, came out for my second, foot slipped and down I came, the jury ruled it a slipping and granted me another attempt. The only problem.. I got to follow myself. So a few minutes later, I came out to try again, only to have the same fate, slipped and rolled my ankle. The third attempt, I brought my stance in and pulled it up, but denied this lift, ruled a hitch in my pull, so no records this go around for me.
I ended the meet by having an bright and early interview on the local CBS news station with fellow lifter, Jennifer Rey.
Thanks always to my excellent coach, Larry Maile, brother Ivan and the rest of the Iron Maidens!
