IPF Open Worlds
Stavanger, Norway
November 6-11, 2006
GOLD & Champion of Champions!
A successful trip to Norway not only for myself, but also the USA Women's Team who won the Team Title under Head Coach Larry Maile.
I competed in the 148s again this year, going 6 for 9, ended with a 610kg (1344lbs) total and a 626.59 Wilks formula which was enough to capture the Champion of Champions Award. 1997 was the last time an American (Carrie Boudreau) won this award. I went 3 for 3 in the squats, ended with 534, had a hard day with bench only getting my opener of 286, finishing 2 for 3 in the deads with 524, attempting a World Record of 556 on my 3rd, but a little too far over my toes and I was unable to keep my balance once I got above my knees. >> Results >> Video: Squat

This year we had both the Men
and Women's Team together, which although it was a LONG week, it was great to
see our other teammates battle on the platform. Now I am not sure having Worlds
in November is the best, a little too cold and miserable to do any sight seeing
and enjoy the culture of the country. Stavanger was rainy, WINDY and cold most
of the time, so didn't do much venturing out, but the landscape was beautiful.
Still looking at the hole left in my wallet from the high prices of Norway....
hamburgers, $25, a glass of beer $15 (ok, so it was a big one), I won't even
go into the price of pizza. :) The last day wrapped up with the closing banquet
where everyone let their guard down, got on the dance floor and had a good time!
It was awesome to have all the USA Women's Team to go up on stage to all accept
our Team Trophy, what an honor it was being part of this awesome team of Women
and Coaches!
Special Thanks to my Coach Larry Maile for taking me to #1 in the IPF World! He always knows the right numbers to put on the bar and plays the perfect strategy to obtain the goals at hand. I met him at my first Worlds 2001, where I placed 5th in the 165 class. 5 years later, he has helped me win my 3rd IPF Title, 6 IPF Open World Records and now Champion of Champions at the World level, THANK YOU! Also thank you to my brother Ivan for always being there for me, being just as excited about where I want to go in this sport and traveling the world with me just to work your butt off for myself and the rest of our teammates. Everyone needs a brother like mine! :) And to my teammates who have always been so supportive, Erin, Liane, Donna, Jane, Kristen, Joel, workout partners Sherry and Walt, you guys are awesome!
Thanks to my sponsors Bodybuilding.com, GNC-Spokane, Marcus Lawson (Global CompuSearch), NDS Nutrition, & Titan Support Systems for helping me get to Norway!
May there be many more to come!
