Where
it all Began...
I became interested in
Powerlifting in high school
when I took a weight training
class and discovered how
strong I was. At the age
of 16 and a body weight
of 135, I benched 165
and squatted 285 raw.
We would 'max' twice a
quarter, if we met a certain
total depending on our
body weight, we would
get our name on 'the board.'
Well, not only did my
totals qualify for my
weight class, but that
of the SHW girls and also
the 135 pound guys! I
knew that I wanted to
try 'real' powerlifting,
but that was the age before
the wide use and availability
of the Internet and with
living in Spokane, it
was hard to find the right connections to help me
get into powerlifting.
So that idea was put on
hold for several years.
When I was going through
my divorce a few years
ago, I sat down and wrote
out a bunch of goals,
one of them was to compete
in a powerlifting competition
before I turned 30. So
I began to ask around,
surf the Internet and
it all came into place
when I joined 24-Hour
Fitness in October 1999
and met Joel Legard and
Bob May who had competed.
They showed me the ropes
and I decided to jump
into Powerlifting feet
first. In only 5-weeks
of learning the style,
methods, rules and gear
needed, I competed in
my first '2-lift meet'
competition in the Seattle
area (Bothell to be exact)
in December 1999.
I competed in my second
competition in April 2000.
This was my first 3-lift
meet. Not only did I take
first for my weight class,
but I also took "Best
Female Lifter' and qualified
for Woman's Nationals.
I also set two Washington
State records with a 420-pound
deadlift and a 990-pound
total.
My best competition lifts
currently are a 546-pound
squat; 341.5-pound bench;
556-pound deadlift; and
1388-pound total in the
148 lb. weight class.

Facts' page for the
records, milestones and
accomplishments I have
made in my powerlifting
career.
